Frequently asked questions

How does VPN detection work?

VPN detection works by checking an IP address against known VPN, proxy, and Tor exit-node ranges, plus the hosting/datacenter networks that VPN providers run on. Predax combines dozens of threat feeds with ASN classification to flag privacy-layer traffic in real time.

Why is my IP detected as a VPN when I am not using one?

Sometimes a residential or mobile IP is reassigned from a range previously used by a hosting or VPN provider, or your carrier routes traffic through a datacenter. Reputation feeds can lag reassignments. If you believe an IP is misclassified, run its full report and contact support.

Can websites block VPN traffic?

Yes. Many sites score incoming IPs and block, challenge, or rate-limit connections flagged as VPN, proxy, or Tor to reduce fraud and abuse. Predax provides this scoring via its API and its WordPress and WooCommerce plugins.
