How to test safely

Test blocking without locking yourself out.

The safest way to test blocking is the built-in Test IP Override, under Settings → Developer / Testing.

Using the Test IP Override

  1. Enter a known risky IP in Test IP Address — for example 185.220.101.1 (a Tor-related IP, high risk). Leave it empty to turn testing off.
  2. Predax now treats *your* visit as if it came from that IP, so you can see exactly what a flagged visitor experiences.
  3. A red banner appears across your admin while test mode is active, so you do not forget it is on.
  4. Clear the Test IP Address when you are done.

Tips

  • Test in a private/incognito window, logged out — the plugin never blocks logged-in admins, so you will not see a block while logged in.
  • To confirm a *specific* real IP, look it up at predax.io/<the-ip> to see how Predax classifies it.
  • Remember the 1-hour result cache: change a setting, then test with a fresh IP or wait a few minutes.

Worried about getting locked out? Add your own IP to the allow-list first.
